How Long Does Myrtle Beach Pollen Season Last?

Myrtle Beach pollen season has been described by locals as a “complete dusting of yellow everywhere”. It gets on every surface, collects in every pavement crack, and it gets into your sinuses which can cause severe seasonal allergy symptoms.

This yellow dust is pollen from pine trees. In the early spring – early summer, pine trees develop little pollen cones that burst open as they fall from the trees, causing the pollen to be dumped everywhere and linger in the air. Tree pollen season usually lasts from February – May, peaking in March and April.

Grass Pollen Season

Grass pollen season may not be as visible as tree pollen, but it can still cause the same allergy symptoms. This includes all that yellow dust from tree pollen season. This type of pollen comes from warm season grasses like bermuda grass. It typically lasts from April – June during Myrtle Beach pollen season.

Weed Pollen Season

Weed pollen season usually lasts from August – November. It is caused native weeds like ragweed, cocklebur, red sorrel, and curly dock. The weed pollen season starts to show signs of starting in mid-late July, and lasts up until the first frost of the winter season.
