Unique Ways to Add Beneficial Water Sources to Your Garden

One of the most important components of a successful garden is a consistent and reliable source(s) of water. There are many different options when it comes to choosing the most effective watering system for your personal gardening needs. Here are a few water sources that we recommend:

Rainwater collection system

If you are looking for a way to save money on your water bill while still ensuring your garden stays happy and healthy, installing a rainwater collection system may be a great option for you! You can collect your rainwater from your rooftop and set up a downspout to direct the water into collecting barrels. You can also collect your rainwater by using wine or whisky barrels, as well as practical plastic containers. Raising these barrels/containers off the ground will produce most beneficial results.

Drip irrigation

A drip irrigation system uses a series of  hoses or water lines to distribute water to your plants drop by drop using drip emitters. You can set up a drip irrigation system to automatically run themselves on a timer, which can be very convenient and efficient for the garden and the gardener.

Soaker hose

A soaker hose looks similar to a drip irrigation system, however the way that the water is distributed from the hose is where these two types of water systems differ. Rather than distributing water drop by drop, a soaker hose has pores along the sides of the hose where water quickly seeps out to water the plants. You can attach a soaker hose to your outdoor water faucet or from a rainwater barrel.

Yard hydrant

A yard hydrant is most beneficial for gardeners who have a garden that is quite a ways away from the hose bib on the side of the house. Installing a yard hydrant in close proximity to your garden will allow you to tap into your main water source in a more convenient location for your gardening needs.
