Ground Pearls
Have you noticed any yellow/browning spots in your lawn that keep coming back year after year? Your lawn may be infested with ground pearl. Ground pearls are tiny insects that feed off of turfgrass roots. Female ground pearls will begin to emerge in the late spring/early summer and will begin to lay eggs that will hatch throughout the rest of the summer.
Types of grasses that are particularly susceptible to ground pearl include:
- Bermudagrass
- St. Augustine
- Centipedegrass
- Zoysiagrass
