Hardiness Zone Guide
A phrase that you may have heard before while learning about plant care is “hardiness zone”. But what is it and why is it an essential part of plant care? The term “hardy” refers to how cold or hot a plant’s environment needs to be for it to survive.
Every area of the US is broken up into hardiness zones ranging from 1-13. The lower the hardiness zone number, the colder the weather is in that area, and the higher the hardiness number, the higher the temperature is. The Myrtle Beach area is part of zone number 8. This means that when you are shopping for plants, it is important to make sure that you are taking home plants that are appropriate for the climate that we live in.
