This week, on March 20th, we celebrate the first day of Spring on the day of the Spring equinox! The Spring equinox is one of only two days of the year where the time that the sun is out is equal to the time that it is not out. Many gardeners use this day to celebrate the return of the Spring season by beginning to prep their gardens for the upcoming growing season. Here are some ways that you can prep your garden for Spring this week to celebrate the equinox:

• Prep your soil by clearing your garden of debris and weeds from the Winter months
• This is also a great time to test your soil for its pH level and nutrient content (this will allow you to fertilize your garden based on what your soil needs most to thrive)
• Prepare seeds and transplants by germinating your seeds in soil indoors. By the time they are ready to be transplanted to your garden there will be great weather conditions for your Spring plants to thrive.
