Landscaping and Your HOA
How often have you driven through a community impressed by how the homeowners take care of their homes and landscaping. Curb appeal makes it obvious there is pride of ownership in the community. Then you look around and see that the public spaces are not nearly as well maintained. Bushes are not shaped, grass has more brown spots than green, foliage is overgrown and trees are in need of trimming. This visual can actually change the mind of a perspective home buyer and drive the value of homes in the area down.
There is also a safety issue with tree limbs not being cut back properly and overgrown bushes. Winter storms bring strong winds and there is a potential for damage to homes or property.
This is the time of year that most HOAs, Home Owner Associations, make decisions and take bids for their landscaping contracts for the next year.
