In addition to in ground plantings you can bring interest to your yard by adding a container garden. This can be groupings or stand alone containers. You can have fun with this type project and bring whimsy to your yard. Be creative with what you want to use as a pot. I like to go to flea markets or garage sales to look for unusual items to use in this manner. Up-cycling is a great way to bring interest without an expensive price tag.
So what do I mean by up-cycling? You may find a collection of vintage tea cups or tea pots that catch your eye. These are great for planting herbs.

When you look at items try to see beyond what they were meant to be and think about what you can make them become. You really don’t have to be very handy for a lot of these ideas. . In some instances you may need to use paint, glue or cut a hole in something but for the most part you can leave things as is. I’ve tried to find unusual ideas for you to see but also remember that old tires, bird cages, mail boxes or metal barrels can also be used if you need ideas Pinterest is full of them if you need a jump off point. It’s a great way to spend a Sunday, wandering in a flea market or antique store looking for your next great item to upcycle. Unusual containers can be used in your yard or on a terrace or porch.
