Amending Your Soil
Last week we discussed the importance of testing your soil. A soil test shows the nutrients in your soil and its pH level, which tells you if it’s acidic or alkaline. With this info, you can adjust the soil to give your plants the nutrients they need to thrive. With those results, you can continue to amending your soil.
Once you have tested your soil, the next step is amending your soil according to the results. If your soil is high in acidity then adding limestone will help neutralize the soil pH. If your soil is high in alkaline then adding sulfur to your soil will help your soil to get to that neutral state. You can also amend your soil nutrients by choosing a fertilizer with the necessary percentages of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium to help your plants thrive.
