Planting Fall Bulbs
Planting fall bulbs is a great way to ensure some vibrant color in your garden in the winter and early spring. It is very important to plant your bulbs in the fall because they require cool temperatures to start the biochemical process that is in charge of flowering. This means that the bulbs will not bloom without exposure to cool temperatures.
When planting your fall bulbs, keep these tips in mind:
- Plant bulbs at a depth of 2-3 times the height of the bulb itself
- Plant bulbs twice as far apart of the width of the bulb
- It is always better to plant bulbs in bulk around your garden, rather than just planting only a few bulbs at once
- Lightly water after planting
- It is a great idea to label where your bulbs are planted so that you do not forget where they are planted
- Keep the area weed free until growth begins to emerge
