Transplanting Trees During Dormancy
There are many different reasons why you may be transplanting trees from one spot in your yard to another. It could be out of necessity for the health of the plant, or purely aesthetic purposes. Whatever the reason may be, it is always best to transplant your trees during the winter during the plant’s dormancy.
Transplanting trees while your tree is actively growing is very risky. Cutting through the root system of a plant is simply inevitable when you are transplanting it to a new area. This is why it is so important to transplant during dormancy, when the roots are not actively growing, to give your plant the best chance of thriving in their new environment.
